Liv Randell - IMSc Veterinary Physiotherapist
From a young age, my passion for animals, especially horses, has played a major part in my life. Growing up with ponies and then horses, I actively participated in Pony Club, BE, and BD competitions which led to my then gaining hands-on experience working parttime as a groom and rider at livery yards with Grand Prix dressage and 5* Event riders. After completing my A levels, I joined the team that looked after the Hong Kong Jockey Club Event and Para Dressage teams. This experience provided me with valuable insights into how veterinary physiotherapy plays a vital role in helping to maintain a horse’s competition fitness and it was this that piqued my interest in studying the subject.
In 2020 I enrolled for a four-year integrated masters degree in veterinary physiotherapy, and it was during this time that my passion for biomechanics was kindled, leading to a third-year systematic review that focused on the impact of stretching on horse limb kinematics and performance, and a fourth year dissertation that explored the effects of girth design and tension on equine forelimb kinematics with some interesting results!
Fast forward to 2024, and I have proudly graduated from Writtle University College (now ARU Writtle) with an IMSc in Veterinary Physiotherapy. This achievement allows me to bring my expertise and passion to the field of animal care, with a particular focus on providing individualised treatment for each animal.
I look forward to meeting you and your unique animals soon.
